Hamilton Youth Conference – February 25, 2012

On February 25, 2012 the ICAA hosted the Hamilton Youth Conference from 10:00am to 4:00pm and provided newcomer and immigrant youth between the ages of 14 to 21 to hear motivational speakers and engage in discussions where they could share the cultural barriers they face as new Canadians in Hamilton.

The Hamilton Youth Conference was funded by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration through the Youth Opportunities Program and brought together 47 youth leaders from 8 high schools across Hamilton. The youth came from 11 distinct ethno-cultual backgrounds and shared insight into their experiences integrating into their new environments. They also proposed solutions and generated a series of resolutions which will be shared with the broader community. The Hamilton Youth Conference included 2 exhibitions by youth artists and one musical performance.
