Invitation for ICAA’s Community Open House

Dear partners,

The ICAA’s Board of Directors, staff persons and volunteers are excited to announce that the ICAA has moved to a new location and is now housed in 689 Barton Street East and will host a Community Open House to celebrate this milestone on February 24th, 2016 at 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The opening ceremony will showcase the artistic works of 12 Hamiltonian artists and performers.

The Immigrant Culture & Art Association (ICAA) is a not for profit organization which has served the Hamilton community since 2002 over the years, the ICAA has created a multitude of programs and events which showcase immigrant culture and art. Many of you have participated in the organization’s Professional Art Program as a student of fine arts while others may have taken part in the Artist Mentorship Program to create an artistic portfolio in Canada.

This move would not have been possible without the generous contributions of Abdullah Taraky who has graciously donated the venue, rent free, to the ICAA for the next ten years. Abdullah Taraky was a former student of the ICAA’s Professional Art Program and later obtained his Bachelor of Animation in a competitive program at Sheridan College. Mr. Taraky is now a prominent Senior Concept Artist who has worked alongside the industry’s greatest at Warner Brothers Games Montreal Inc., Sony Pictures, Beenox – Activision Blizzard, Gameloft, Motorola, Blur Studios, Amazon Studios, Krystal Levy Pictures, DLK Studios and others. More recently Mr. Taraky is a Senior Concept Artist working on motion pictures at Luma Pictures. Despite residing in Santa Monica, California, Mr. Taraky remains committed to extending access to the arts among immigrant and low income populations in Hamilton.

Through Mr. Taraky’s generous contributions, ICAA’s venue is now equipped with an Art Gallery, a Studio for Performances, a Pottery Studio as well as offices for the next ten years. Being housed on Barton Street will ensure that the ICAA’s reach is extended to the organization’s target clientele.

We are very excited to be hosting the ICAA Community Open House and we are looking forward seeing you there.
