ICAA (2004-2007) student – Abdullah Taraky received the prestigious Spectrum Award for the best Concept Art for his ” Submerged Statue” in the God of War Game.
Abe Taraky’s concept was shortlisted among 300 art pieces from around the world and nominated among the best five artworks. Finally, The Submerged Statue from God of War won the best Golden Award at the 26th Spectrum Award Ceremony in Kansas City, USA on 31 March 2019
This game was produced by Sony Pictures where Abe Taraky was a key concept artist. The game main statue is called Tyrs. The story behind the statue is as follow:
When Kratos and Atreus arrive at the Lake of Nine for the first time, they see half of the decrepit statue above the water line. The rest of the statue is submerged, along with the hidden Lake of Nine Temple.
The idea behind the statue is that if the Lake of Nine Temple’s opulence was a reflection of Týr’s personality, then this statue was meant to embody Týr’s stature.
This is a great achievement for Abe Taraky, ICAA, and Hamilton. Abdullah’s success has been celebrated in the broader art community and was covered by major news and media outlets in Canada, USA and his native Afghanistan where Abe was born.
We wish Abe Taraky success in all his endeavors.
